Certification - The Why and The What

What are the benefits of Certification? (Why?)

Certification brings two major advantages to your business:

  • continuous improvement
  • customer satisfaction

Certification is a way to take control of your business on a daily basis through standardising procedures.  You write the procedures for how you want your business to operate, allocate responsibilites and measure progress of all elements involved in your business on a regular basis.  This gives you an opportunity to check how your business is going and make any necessary changes based on regular up-to-date information.

Third party Quality Assurance certification gives your customers confidence that you have a system that will ensure products and services are delivered efficiently and effectively.  It shows your customers that you are prepared to take the time and effort to ensure a quality product or service is provided to them.

Through certification you can expand your business opportunities.  There are many companies that require specific certification standards from all of their suppliers.  By having certification you give yourself a competitive advantage of becoming a preferred supplier.

What is Involved in getting Certification?

Three simple steps are involved in certification:

  1. Get a copy of the standard/s (e.g. ISO 9001)

Most standards can be found at www.iso.org
or..... Contact the organisation that you are supplying to for their standard
or..... Contact eQA and we will be happy to point you in the right direction

  2. Write your company specific procedures to show how you will actually perform the elements in the standard, including forms and check lists
  3. Maintain your records and check lists to prove that your system is working
  4. Contact eQA and arrange a date for the audit

You will be surprised at how easy this opportunity for your business actually is ...... with eQA it's simply QA, not rocket science!
