Difference between Internal and External Auditing?
There are two main types of auditing:
-
Internal - checking that your practice is the same as what you say you do in your manual
-
External - Certification audit (supplier audit) to a specific standard
Auditing Myth:
Some clients believe that the external/certification audit counts as part of their internal audit programme. This is not the case. Businesses must review their own system as per their audit schedule independent of the certification auditing. During the certification audit we check that you are performing your internal audits as per your schedule and that they are effective in reviewing your QA system. If there is no objective evidence that internal audits have been performed a CAR (Corrective Action Request) will be issued. This CAR is very easily avoided - eQA can help you ensure certification requirements are met and there is an effective review process for your business procedures.
Internal Auditing
Conducting regular internal audits, while being a requirement of certification auditing, ensures that you are following your procedures. Regular checking of your procedures will assist with the prevention of problems before they get to your customer. This simple, yet effective tool, needs to be performed by trained auditors and this will ensure you enjoy maximum benefit from this process. It is an area that is all too often overlooked or given the full attention that it should, but is often the tool that can prevent serious and costly problems.

External Auditing
eQA provides certification audits on behalf of an international certification body.
We take a practical business approach to every single audit. We do not have preconceived ideas about industries or personnel. Every audit is conducted independently. We realise that at the end of the day, you have a business to run, and the certification process must enhance your business.
Murray Spiers, who is a fully qualified food safety, quality management, workplace health and safety and environmental auditor, provides this service. But even better, he has a personality and ensures the auditing process is enjoyable and beneficial.
